Lead Your Team by Uniting Them Around a Common Goal

With Jordon Schoolmeester

  • As your dealership strives to navigate a challenging market, your role is truly crucial. Great leadership can unite a team toward a common goal and even set it up to thrive, outperforming the market in situations in which many teams would ultimately fail.

Let's be honest: When times are easy and there are minimal struggles, leadership plays less of a role. We don’t hear stories of dealerships and teams cruising down easy street with leaders at the front. Rather, leaders are in the rear, letting their teams win. However, in difficult times, you are called on to come to the front and lead. Now is one of those times.

That’s the purpose behind this session by highly rated dealership trainer Jordan “Schooly”  Schoolmeester. We’ve invited him back to Dealer Week as Education Host to guide you through setting and meeting dealership goals so you and your team can outperform the market.

Under his guidance, you will determine a goal or goals, a reason for your team to unite, and discover how to get them pulling together in one direction. After the goal is set, Schooly will lead you through the process of defining the steps – micro and macro – that are crucial to hit the desired outcome.

Breaking these down into the smallest daily operational steps will keep your team engaged in the little tasks and tactics that add up to big success. By tracking your progress through these steps, you as leader will be able to keep your team focused on the controllables and celebrate the small wins.

While you facilitate their ability to hit these small achievable goals, you will also be striving to hit goals of your own from the front, leading by proficiency and motivating them to win.

    • Determine a dealership goal and learn how to measure it, which pulls the team together to strive for a common target

    • Discover how to monitor the goal to motivate and hold the team accountable

    • Gain insight into how to facilitate your team’s success

    • And pick-up tactics for leading from the front by hitting your goals and celebrating team wins.

  • I live in Denver, Colorado with my beautiful wife Mary and my two big ol dogs. My love for motorcycles came at an early age with dirt biking at 12 years old. My passion for motorcycles continued to grow from there, taking me on multiple 1,000-mile trips over Baja, snowmobiling the backcountry and getting my first Harley Davidson at 21. Mary, my two dogs, and I enjoy everything in the outdoors.

My primary focus is dealership training and running our Managers Training Academies with an emphasis on process and leadership. I enjoy getting the most out of our dealers and processes to ultimately provide the tools in maintaining relationships for life. I have been fortunate to be with Garage Composites since 2016 - continuing to teach and train, all while still learning on how to better the industry one engagement at a time.
